My hair routine as a Blonde Asian formed from trial and error, not research as we usually think of it. I’ve already talked about what happens after a blonding appointment. This is what happens in between.
I wouldn’t say my routine completely changed when I went blonde. It shifted. I still use hair products that serve different purposes, but the biggest change is how often I wash my hair. It’s less.
This is what I actually do between salon visits.

Washing
I wash my hair every 2 days. I use K18 Detox Shampoo or Kevin Murphy REPAIR-ME.WASH.
These are the main two depending on whether I need more moisture or more of a reset. I live in Michigan and the weather is unpredictable, so my hair doesn’t feel the same day to day. I’ve stopped expecting it to.
Conditioning / Treatment
I’ll use either K18 RE.STORE Repairing Cleansing Treatment or K18 Biomimetic Damage Shield Protective Conditioner. When I apply conditioner, I use nature’s comb (my fingers) to distribute it evenly staying a few inches away from my scalp.
Between Washes
If my hair needs a freshen up, I use K18 Airwash Dry Shampoo. This is usually when my roots start to feel greasy and/or I’m trying to stretch one more day.
Blow Dry / Heat Styling
When I dry my hair with a hair dryer, I apply Kenra Platinum Blow Out Spray or K18 Heat Bounce depending on what I’m doing and how much heat I’m using.
Finishing
Then I’ll use K18 Molecular Repair Hair Oil at the ends of my hair. This is less about styling and more about how my hair feels.
What I Do With My Hair After

The first 24 hours after I wash my hair, I don’t put my hair up because I don’t like putting tension on it.
But even past that, I’ve been avoiding putting my hair up more than I should because I haven’t found a hair tie that works the way I need it to.
So now I’m paying attention. I’m basically on a mission to find one that doesn’t annoy me.
