If you’ve been following along, you know by now there are a few K18 products that have genuinely changed my hair game. Because of that, I’ve slowly been working my way through their product lineup to see how it compares to other brands in the same category. Last month I reviewed the K18 Molecular Repair Hair Oil, which ended up being a pleasant surprise for me.
K18 AstroLift Reparative Volume Spray caught my attention immediately. Having long and rather heavy hair, the idea of a boost in a bottle is naturally intriguing. My hair has always leaned more toward sleek and straight than full and bouncy, so the promise of extra lift is hard not to be curious about.
As a Filipino + American woman with naturally very dark, coarse hair, volume has always felt a little bit like the dream scenario. Asian hair is often thick in strand density but very straight and heavy, which means it tends to fall rather than lift. So the idea that a product might help create a little more movement or body is definitely appealing to me.

My Hair Situation (Context Matters)

I didn’t wake up one day blonde. I eased into it slowly.
Highlights turned into balayage, which eventually turned into scalp bleaching and a more lived-in blonde. Over time, damage happened because at the end of the day, it’s still chemicals on my head.
I went from a natural level 2 to about an 8 or 9.
My hair is still very straight and coarse, but dryness shows up mostly at the ends rather than near the scalp. Because of that, my hair can tangle easily, especially when it’s compromised. That’s the baseline I’m working from whenever I try any kind of repair product.
What K18 AstroLift Claims to Do
The main claim of K18 AstroLift is that it gives your hair more lift and body.
What’s interesting is how the brand says it achieves that. K18 AstroLift is designed to address volume loss caused by damage. The formula uses the brand’s K18 peptides, which are meant to help repair damaged keratin chains inside the hair.
The idea is that healthier hair structure should naturally create better volume and movement.
The spray can be used whether you blow dry or air dry your hair.
How I Actually Use the K18 AstroLift
Step 1: I shake the bottle up like I’m about to tag something.
Step 2: I remove the cap and liberally spray my roots, holding the bottle about 4–6 inches away as instructed.
Step 3: I tussle it around with my fingers and brush it a bit.
Step 4: Then I go back in and spray the mid-shaft and ends.
Step 5: Blow dry and brush.
Nothing complicated. Very straightforward. Very Medium Maintenance.
Results I Noticed Over Time
Overall, my hair feels sleeker once I finish drying it. The individual strands feel thicker and a little more defined, which I do appreciate. My hair also feels smoother when I brush through it, almost like everything has been lightly polished.
As far as total body and volume goes, unfortunately I didn’t notice much difference. I suspect that’s because of how long and heavy my hair naturally is. Gravity tends to win that battle most of the time.
AstroLift smells really good and it doesn’t leave my hair feeling weighed down or sticky. I genuinely like how it makes my hair feel, but considering it’s marketed as a volumizing spray, it didn’t deliver that specific result for my particular hair.
Who I Think K18 AstroLift Works Best For
K18 AstroLift would probably work best for people with shorter or medium length hair and for those with finer hair types. Hair that’s lighter or naturally holds movement tends to respond better to volumizing products because there isn’t as much weight pulling it down.
My luck with volumizing products in general has been about 30/70. Long, straight hair works against volume, especially once you add bleaching into the mix. A lot of volumizing sprays make my hair feel nice, but noticeable lift rarely shows up for me.
Is It Worth the Price?
The full-size bottle (4 oz.) of K18 AstroLift Reparative Volume Spray is $46. The Mini Size (1.6 oz.) is $22.
I do appreciate that K18 offers a mini option so you can try the product without committing to the full bottle. It’s a great way to try out their products without the full investment.
Where It Fits in My Blonde Routine
K18 AstroLift currently sits in my hair drying and styling routine. I reach for it after I’ve washed my hair and I’m getting ready to dry and brush everything out.
You can use it while air drying, but I prefer using it when I blow dry my hair. That’s when I feel like I get the most out of it. I’ll spray it through my roots and mid-lengths before I start drying so it distributes evenly while I’m brushing through my hair.
Truthfully, part of the reason I keep using it is because I really like how it smells. It’s one of those products that makes the whole process feel a little nicer. It’s also very easy to use. A few sprays, a quick brush through, and you’re good to go.
The Grounded Verdict

Even though I really like how AstroLift makes my hair feel and how it smells, the lack of noticeable volume means it’s not something I’ll personally go out of my way to repurchase.
If I do end up with another bottle, it will probably be through one of the K18 promotions where they include free products with larger purchases.
If I’m looking for volume from the K18 product line, I’ve actually had better results using K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo.
That said, not every product is going to be the perfect fit for every hair type, and sometimes a product simply works better for someone with a different hair length or texture than mine.
Next month, I will be sharing my thoughts and experience with K18 HeatBounce Conditioning Heat Protectant.
